With lots of variety ranging from drag to musical comedy to guest performances, Campfire Cabaret is true to its name of being a wild and wacky performance.

Vex Scandal had a bouffon performance to Rihanna’s “S&M” that had me in stitches with how they used an eclectic mix of sound effects to censor the language in the song. Then another standout moment for me was the interactive camp song where some audience members shared some of their best (or worst!) camp memories. One could not ask for a more gay camp experience.

I was extremely lucky to have been there when their guest performance for that day was Boys’ Club from Boys’ Club Tap Dance Collective. Having previously watched their show and being astounded by their talent, I was ecstatic to see it in a new light. Boy oh boy did they deliver. Bringing me straight back to my camp days with their song of choice “There Was A Moose”. I don’t think I ever enjoyed a tap performance as much as I enjoyed this one.

If you are a former camp kid or want to experience what the camp experience is and why a lot of us wish we could go back to summer camps, definitely grab your tickets to see Campfire Cabaret, but be very careful: I heard that there was a moose on the loose all covered in juice!
