I’ve been contemplating on starting my own review space for theatre here in Ottawa for the longest time, but I’ve always just been too tired or exhausted to do something about it. Taking a page from another reviewer, I wanted this review to be anonymous as much as possible to keep a sense of integrity. That being said, the biggest reason why I wanted to start this is because the current reviewers we have of Ottawa’s theatre space is that they shy away from negative criticism or even any criticism at all; although, I won’t call out individuals by name due to poor performances.

Here will be my guideline for the reviews to come in what I will be critiquing:

1. General Direction
2. Choreography
3. Music Direction
4. Design (set, sounds, and lights)
5. Costumes
6. Standouts

When it comes to credentials and qualifications in reviews, take these reviews with the biggest grain of salt you can find. I recognize that my opinion is only that: my opinion which is swayed by my experience and knowledge in this field. Some will agree, some will disagree with these thoughts and I welcome the conversation that it brings.
